Long Black Thing

Image
"What is this Long Black Thing covering your head and also some parts of your body? Not to mention, your head is so small!" Remember reading that one out of Goosebumps - My Invisible Friend, by R.L. Stine, one of my favourite childhood books(besides bookworm books). That sentence was at the ending of the story.  All this while, the author did not mention who this invisible friend was.  He turns out to be a human and the main character was an alien, really entertaining. Mentioning about hair, my hair is very long right now. I can say this is the longest I have ever let it grown all my life. Compared to other people, my hair grows rather slower than most. I have not cut my hair since I came over here to the UK, been 7 months already. At times, it may get annoying since the hair keeps getting into my eyes and also how my head is not used to all these extra stimuli. I am still deciding whether to keep it or cut it short when I am back in Malay...

Expensive Lesson Learnt

9th Apr Today I learnt an expensive and very important lesson. It seems that this lesson is never ending and I am still trying learning from it. I lose keys before, I lose my wallet before, I forget to do certain things, I have always landed myself in difficult situations due to my unmindfulness, which my mother always nags me about. I slept late that night and in the morning I was groggy and half awake. Knowing I had to take a train to Manchester that morning, I reminded myself the night before to bring along my railcard. As soon as I printed out my train ticket at the train station, I only remembered why the train ticket was so cheap, I used my railcard to purchase the ticket and I only realised that I had forgotten to bring it along. I thought: "Don't worry Eugene, it is not much of a big deal, probably you would just have to pay the difference, nothing much.". Hence, continued walking to my platform and boarded the train. I searched for my seat and sat in it...

Musicality

Image
I always wondered that the musicals here in the UK would be somewhat different from the ones I attended back in Malaysia. Hence, I made sure I attended at least one musical in London. Musicality is a musical society here at University of Nottingham. They are made up of many students from different courses and background and boy are they talented! I attended their annual musical production: Jekyll and Hyde The Musical at the Nottingham Arts Theatre which was located in the city. Their performance was marvellous. Although I kind of forgotten the story but I never once felt bored during the performance. Like every musical, there was a live orchestra below the stage and there were equally splendid. The bed making part of the backdrop whereby Dr.Jekyll would be lying on it at the beginning of the scene The orchestra ensemble taking a break So many people were involved in the musical. Directors, producers, designers, bac...

Unconfident

So I promised myself that I would update my blog after handing in my design project coursework. I have not updated since last month during Chinese New Year. This piece of artwork here, costs me approximately 9 freaking pounds! For the past few weeks, I have been struggling with courseworks and deadlines, still managed to participate in a few basketball tournaments and also watch some musicals. I have also been feeling very demotivated due to all these assignments, it had me thinking all over again, WHY THE HECK ENGINEERING... I will elaborate more on it in my next update. On the bright side,I do not have to worry about my bloody design project(for the mean time), I have a few more days till Easter Break starts, time to have some rest, or maybe I have been resting too much... Matilda the musical at Cambridge Theatre in London Very entertaining, will elaborate more next post Joint Asian League basketball team members, representing the Thai team! ...

Happy Chinese New Year

Image
Every year, me and my family would celebrate CNY together. I would help with the CNY decorations, spring cleaning and tidying. I would sometimes help my mum with the CNY cookie baking. Help my dad fill the Red Packets with money. On, CNY eve, we would have family reunion dinners with relatives. Then, sleeping late that night due to endless gambling and mahjong sessions. First day of CNY, we would all put on new clothes. Have a little Tea Ceremony, wish my parents, then receive Red Packets. Our dining table would be occupied with a bowl of oranges with empty red packets, some vegetable or items that would have significant meanings in Chinese. Meaning we had to eat out the whole day or probably eat at another smaller table. Ever since my grandfather passed away, celebrating CNY was very much different than before. When he was around, we would go back to his house in a small town at Pahang. The whole night would be filled with firecrackers firing away and there...

Snow

Image
(14/01/2013) "Frozen precipitation in the form of white or translucent hexagonal ice crystals that fall in soft, white flake s"( thefreedictionary.com ) It is snowing in Nottingham right now, since 9pm. It was very light at first, it felt like rain, more like iceflake rain. Then it got heavier. The snowflakes got bigger and were more visible. It was snowing! It still feels so unreal. I am far from home, in a country where it snows. I always dreamt of having to see, touch and play with snow. I only see it on the internet, movies or magazines, wishing I could  touch and play with it. Now, it is happening right in front of my eyes. made this little snowman on top of neighbour's car I woke up early in the morning, it was still snowing. It looks clearer now compared to last night when it was dark. view from outside my room The whole place was covered in snow, white fluffy snow everywhere, it was as if somebody dropped a bucket of white paint and pai...

New Year, New Perspectives, New Expectations

Image
So it is the time of the year again, the end of the year. First Christmas, then New Years' Eve, finally the New Year. The hot topic of the world ending on the 21st of December 2012 certainly isn't popular now, 2013 is just around the corner. 21 years of living, learning, exploring, achieving many things. I would usually end the year by making a new New Year Resolution. This was last years' resolutions : 2012 Referring to it: 1. I am really close to reaching it. I swear I can touch and grab the rim most of the time. I guess I have to jump more and train my legs, but the pain... Nevermind, I rather regret breaking my legs than regret for not trying harder when I could. 2. Internship? No problem! 3. 10km run? Pfft been there, done that. 4. Finish a piece? I can play a few pieces! 5. Definitely survived it :D What will be my 2013 New Years' Resolution? 1. Still want to slam dunk, always is, always will be, will eventually perform it. I even have Michael Jo...
