Engineer

Yesterday was my 1 year working anniversary at Air Liquide Malaysia.

How did it all begin?

It started last year during my final year at university.

My parents(brother too!) have been nagging and constantly reminding me to send out my resumes.

Before sending them out, I had to make tons of corrections, hoping to make my CV stand out of the crowd, there were so many revisions.

To be honest, I actually made 4 applications(ONLY) online, mostly at jobstreet.my.

I saw a post by Air Liquide Malaysia, vacancy for Total Gas Management engineer or something.

Without hesistating, I applied. And usually at the end of the application, we had to make a pitch. I remembered bullshitting in it, I am great at bullshitting.

Soon before I know it, I received a call from HR or HOD, I can't remember. It was 8 in the morning and I was still asleep in the rented house at Semenyih.

I answered the phone, half awake and agreed on the interview. I tried to speak as soft as possible, trying not to wake my roommate.

I went for the first and second interview and I guess I managed to impress them.
I got the job.

I told them I was still studying and will finish around June, so I agreed to start on 1st July.

Little did I know, my coursemate had also applied for a position there. I only managed to find out through conversations with my friends. We were both Production Engineers to be, and based at Melaka.

Long story cut short, my coursemate left after 2 weeks, I stayed on and changed role to be a Project Engineer.

Time flies, 1 year has passed and I am still grateful to be having a job.

Sometimes I really wonder what am I doing, is this what I really want?

That question in my head is usually silenced at the end of the month when I check my bank balance and see money rolling in...

Well, to a better future ahead, Happy Working.
