London Olympics 2012

An event that happens every 4 years
An event that gathers many nations to compete in various sporting events
An event that houses many professional and talented people waiting to shine for their country
An event to be proud of

As far as I can remember, I only started watching the Olympics after the 2008 Beijing Olympics opening ceremony. Everybody would gather around in the living room to watch the opening ceremony at the Beijing which was broadcasted live on the TV. I remembered a little girl was on the stage, singing China's national anthem, before Lang Lang the renowned pianist takes the stage, performing a piece which I couldn't remember. Then, Li Ning, one of China's sportsmen was running around the stadium with the Olympic torch in one hand.

I have heard of the Olympics when I was little but didn't take too much notice of it as I had other things to be worried of (like completing my homework on time or keeping my school shoes as white as possible). Besides, why were those men running around the field, wouldn't they get out of breath?

That was then. But now, I would just switch on the TV and look into the Olympics channels on Astro.

I didn't watch the whole opening ceremony this year, managed to catch a glimpse of it.
Rowan Atkinson a.k.a Mr. Bean was performing during the chariots of fire performance; James Bond escorting the Queen to the Olympics Venue.

I would always be keeping an eye out for the Men's Basketball because that was my favourite. I would try to catch all of team USA's match as most of the NBA players were on that team.

Besides that, I would watch the Gymnastics as well. I am fairly interested in the Artistic Gymnastics event. One day I wish I could try out most of the events such as Rings, Pommel Horse, or the Bars. But of course, I would first have to workout in order to have bulging chest muscles and biceps just like those men.

Sometimes at the park, they would have these chin up bars or the parallel bars, and I never would hesitate to go up to it and do some chin ups or swing around on the parallel bars, hoping to score a 9 out of 10 (I don't even know how they score in the event...).

Will be heading to the UK this coming September to continue my 3rd Year in Chemical with Environmental Engineering. Would definitely visit the Olympics venue to soak up the spirit and determination of the participants, to see what it feels like to be watched by billions of people while contending for their country in a sports event. Also not forgetting to buy Olympics SOUVENIRS!

Goodbye London Olympics 2012~
